Creekside one can see the rocks, pebbles and leaves at the bottom of the stream or the viewer can observe the water's surface: floating bugs, bubbles, ripples and reflections, but it's difficult to catch the bottom and the surface simultaneously. Flandorfer lived in California for over 20 years, and currently resides in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Mostly self-taught, Max was forever drawing and sketching as a kid, but the beautiful landscape, and rich artistic heritage of the Monterey peninsula's artist colony was the deciding influence on his later works.
