About the Item
This painting continues the artist’s reflection on the memories of the city of Mariupol — a place that became a symbol of resilience and loss. Once a vibrant city, Mariupol was almost completely destroyed during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It was here, at the Azovstal steel plant, that Ukrainian soldiers withstood one of the longest and most harrowing sieges in modern history.
In Ukraine, the red poppy has long symbolized remembrance — honoring those who fell in World War II. Today, the poppies of Mariupol embody something even greater: faith and hope for victory, and the living memory of those who fought and continue to fight for freedom.
“We Will Remember” speaks to a universal truth — that the world must not forget. The red poppies serve as a reminder that humanity should never again permit the violent erasure of nations or the suffering caused by aggression. It is a call to collective memory, justice, and the protection of peace.
About series
This painting is from the "Hope" series, where the idea of preserving one's identity despite challenging circumstances is conveyed, as well as the hope for a return to peaceful life. In her work, Ksenia does not depict the pain of internal conflict. Instead, she seeks points of support to rise and move forward, to help others rebuild their lives.

Ksenia Tsyganyuk, born in 1991 in northern Russia, began her artistic career after moving to Rivne, Ukraine. Her paintings—landscapes and still lifes—capture a joyful, childlike sense of wonder through vibrant colors, rich textures, and ornamental details. With a touch of naïveté in her imagery, she seeks to awaken the viewer’s “inner child,” reminding them of how beautiful the world is when one is free from expectations, eager to explore, and ready to experiment. In today’s fast-changing and stressful world—marked by crises, wars, and forced migration—it’s easy to lose balance and feel overwhelmed. Ksenia’s art offers a moment of respite, inviting viewers into a dialogue with their own feelings of lightness and freedom. She hopes to rekindle the emotions of childhood, when one feels safe, at home, and surrounded by love. Her goal is to create art that helps people reconnect with their inner Sun—the light that guides them through life.
Ksenia works in mixed media, blending acrylic and oil on canvas. She favors a loose, expressive style that preserves the spontaneity of each brushstroke, allowing emotions to flow freely onto the canvas.Education
