About the Item
Leigh Ann Van Fossan's "Rain To The North" (2024) is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a valley with a few houses in the distance and a storm brewing above.
Van Fossan was born in Vail, Colorado, and began oil painting at the age of 12. She went on to study Fine Art at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and at the Syracuse University Center in Florence, Italy.
After school, Van Fossan stepped away from her craft for nearly a decade, to explore the business side of art and to build her family with husband, internationally-acclaimed painter, James Van Fossan. It was with his persistent encouragement that Leigh Ann finally decided to revisit painting in 2014.
The hiatus served her well. Van Fossan was featured as a cover artist with Art Voices Magazine for the Fall 2014 Issue. She was also presented at the prestigious SPECTRUM MIAMI event in 2016 with the Artbox Gallery of Switzerland.
Her work is now collected around the globe.

Leigh Ann Van Fossan
Leigh Ann Van Fossan (b. 1984) specializes in impressionistic landscape paintings that offer viewers moments of joy and calm amid life's chaos. The Colorado native began oil painting at 12 and formally studied in Boulder and Florence, Italy before taking a decade-long pause from painting. Returning to her practice in 2014 with renewed purpose, Van Fossan creates works ranging from miniatures to extra-large canvases, primarily in oils but also in acrylics and watercolor. Her artistic focus stems from time spent in nature, which she translates into compositions that capture fleeting light and atmospheric qualities. Beyond painting, Van Fossan has authored the novel "Painting Blue Water" (2018) and illustrated children's books, including her own "STUBBORN SAWYER" (2024). Represented by select galleries across the United States including Abend Gallery, her work has attracted collectors globally since her 2014 Art Voices Magazine cover feature.
