About the Item
Contemporary artist Lenny Cornforth paints a pleasing seascape scene conveyed during the season of winter. Presenting an aerial perspective of a beach setting, this piece captures the impression of energetic, crashing waves and activity associated with the landscape. Endlessly enthralled by the Atlantic ocean, Lenny Cornforth takes inspiration from the northern coast of Cornwall, using layers of translucent colour and texture to construct vibrant and emotional paintings evoking the joyful colours of the beaches around her.
A keen sailor and surfer, Lenny draws on her own experiences on the Northern coast of Cornwall to inform her compositions. Tiny figures across each painting, whether they are surfing, sailing or sunbathing hold an intriguing narrative within each piece. Evoking memories of long sunny days by the sea, exploring coastal paths and stretching out on the golden sand.
After graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in Fine Art, Lenny has exhibited widely in the UK including The Crypt Gallery in St.Ives, Oxford Castle, Edinburgh Art Fair, Waterperry Gardens and the Scin Gallery in London. However she has always been drawn back to Cornwall, where she currently lives near Bodmin with her husband and son, two dogs and dorset sheep.
