Artist statement: Snapped the reference photo for this painting of the Brooklyn Bridge from the subway train which travels over the East River over the Manhattan Bridge. The texture is pronounced in this oil painting. When I add hues of oil glaze, the grooves of the texture grab hold of the pigment generating a variety of colors. When I use a long thin scriptliner brush to render the cables on the Brooklyn Bridge, I hold my breath to keep a steady hand.

Lisa Bisbee is a contemporary cityscape artist based in New York City. In her ongoing series of over 50 oil paintings titled "Bright Lights Pink City," Bisbee captures snapshots of urban architecture within a dreamlike atmosphere. Her work portrays both ordinary moments of daily city life and iconic landmarks such as the Guggenheim, Brooklyn Bridge, and Washington Square Park. Navigating the concrete jungle is an exhilarating experience for her, teeming with anticipation at every street corner. She aims to encapsulate the magical sensation of seeing the city with fresh eyes, imbuing her artwork with the essence of this exciting perspective. Bisbee's NYC series of over 50 oil paintings depicts her adventures through the city, using vivid colors to showcase a vibrant metropolis. Using Gapka oil paint from a small handmade artisan paint company, the colors achieve incredible saturation.

"In 1956, at the Charlotte Norberg Gallery (Paris), he presented his first personal exhibition, composed of an ensemble of surrealist paintings of professional inspiration (dental elements). Two years later, at Gallery Royale (Rochefort), he exhibits another 50 paintings on the subject. At that time, a decisive event for the painter David Solot was made: a great new-York-born antibiotic producer Lederle Cy learns about his work and contacts him through the US Ambassador to Paris, proposing an advertising contract and buying the reproduction right for 24 of its canvases. A year later, the same company bought the right to print three of its cloths in color. This was the starting point of his international notoriety.
