Lori Eubanks
Lori Eubanks is inspired by the French Impressionists, but dedicated to her own unique approach to form. Her work is loose, intuitive and richly complex. Lori finds inspiration in her travels throughout the United States and Europe. She is most recognized for her colorful, vibrant palette. People often say her paintings are very uplifting and make them feel happy when they look at them. Lori's work is eagerly sought by art enthusiasts and can be found in numerous private and corporate collections. About the artist: Her love of painting began at an early age but her growth as an artist has accelerated in the last 10 years. Her medium of choice is oil. She is primarily self taught, but has taken many workshops, including a 10 day trip to France which included painting in Monet’s garden. She is represented by galleries across the United States and is also part of many private and corporate collections. “I believe in having a lot of fun in life! This large landscape oil painting by John Traynor captures a scene in New England. Cows are visible in front of a long picket fence, with a red barn and house behind the fence and lush green trees on either side and along the hills in the horizon. Fluffy, almost abstracted clouds sit above the hills, with a patch of blue skies shining through toward the top of the image. The painting is 48" x 72", and 58" x 82" framed. It is professionally framed in a classic, antiqued, gold leaf frame. It is signed by the artist in the bottom right-hand corner of the canvas, and is wired and ready to hang.
John C. Traynor's painting style is reminiscent of some 19th century painters and the Dutch Masters. He uses his knowledge of light and color to create a certain mood in each of his works. The creation of atmosphere is an important element in Traynor's paintings. Painting outdoors, on location, is a prime source of inspiration and ideas for his landscapes. John travels extensively, painting the landscapes around him.
John was born in 1961 and spent his early years in Chester and Mendham, New Jersey. His art studies began at Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey, and from there he furthered his education at Paier College of Art in New Haven, Connecticut. He studied figure painting at the Art Students League of New York, as a merit scholar, with Frank Mason. William L. Lathrop (1859-1938)
Deemed “Father of the New Hope Art Colony”, William Langson Lathrop was born in Warren, Illinois. He was largely self-taught, having only studied briefly with William Merritt Chase in 1887, at the Art Students League. Lathrop first moved east in the early 1880s, and took a job at the Photoengraving Company in New York City. While there, he befriended a fellow employee, Henry B. Snell. The two men became lifelong friends and ultimately, both would be considered central figures among the New Hope Art Colony.
Lathrop's early years as an artist were ones of continuing struggle. His efforts to break through in the New York art scene seemed futile, so he scraped enough money together to travel to Europe with Henry Snell in1888. There he met and married an English girl, Annie Burt. Upon returning to New York, he tried his hand at etching, making tools from old saw blades...
