Large Mexican abstract village framed in with arches. Colors are an array of soft pastels and Magenta the village undulates in a gentle soothing rhythm.
A Mexican Village lies in the foothills with cobbled roads and colorful walls and buildings. Seen through the shutters, a woman rolls out the masa for her tortillas. Through the afternoon heat only a few people wander the village, probably heading home for siesta. The warm color-scheme is inviting . Lets go to Mexico!
Marc Zimmerman creates playful paintings, whether deep mysterious jungle or delightfully whimsical florals. His color palette explores various harmonies yet always surprises with new color excitement. Years of working with the woodcut print can be seen in Marc’s concise clarity of form and texture. His botanical world was initially inspired by the French artists; Henry Rousseau and Paul Gaugin. Painting journeys to the island of Kauai fueled Marc’s passion for the jungle series, lasting over 12 years. Marc Zimmerman
I have painted since 1980, starting with watercolor. Then on to woodcut ,collage and now for 30 years oil and acrylic. Mentored from 1981-89, Phil Dike, considered the father of the California school of watercolor. Self taught from then on, I went into sculpture in stone and bronze and now ceramic. Today I create and run my own gallery in Carmel by the sea.
