Marcia Wise's "Summer Afternoon" is a 24 x 36 inch oil painting full of color, from ochres and oranges to blues and greens, in the artist's broken color style of paint application with a palette knife. Glowing and soft in effect, the light produces deep shadows on water. This oil painting is from the artist's series of boats and reflections on water; it is in a cherry float frame, signed by the artist on the front.
Marcia Wise is a Massachusetts-based contemporary oil painter and educator whose paintings are inspired by nature's landscape forms and patterns, color relationships, light effects and reflections, and the play of textures. Her work has been exhibited and collected nationally. Wise is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
