About the Item
This framed 42" x 34" landscape painting by Mark Gilmore features a rural scene of a hillside field and an emerging tornado hidden behind a moving rainstorm and ray of sunshine in the field. Gilmore's mark making and the variety of rich, deep saturated shades of green create a strong foreground landscape. His technique also creates a realistic portrayal of the stormy sky and impending tornado. The dark foreboding storm juxtaposed with the bright soft light in the distance furthers the sense of reality within the work. The painting is framed in a minimal black frame with museum glass.
Mark Gilmore is an artist and designer with over 30 years of experience in commercial printing and design. He combines traditional oil painting techniques with contemporary approaches to composition and subject. He currently lives and works in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
