Mateo Romero, now residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico, was born and raised in Berkeley, California. He earned his BFA at Dartmouth College and his MFA from the University of New Mexico. He retains his strong connections to his family at Cochiti Pueblo, where his family has been involved in the arts, including his father Santiago and his brother Diego. Mateo is an award-winning artist whose work has been exhibited in Canada and in the United States.
