About the Item
Emergence is an acrylic on canvas painting of a eucalyptus plant painted from life against an imaginary abstract landscape environment. Like many of the landscape works by the artist, elements of realism, imagination, and abstraction coalesce into one image. Moments of subtle transparency and painted layers reveal themselves in different capacities when viewed from different angles and lighting. Saturated primary colors pop from the canvas giving this work a bold but contemplative presence.
The painting is done on cotton canvas with acrylic paint, the sides of the frame measure about 1" in depth.
Matt Higgins b. 1987 is an artist and art professor who lives and works in Philadelphia, Pa.
He maintains a regular studio practice in the Fishtown neighborhood focusing primarily on abstract styles of painting but sometimes dabbling in text based paintings, landscapes or other genres of painting.
His work is included in numerous private collections and has been included in wide range of interior design projects including residential properties, corporations and hotels.
