Maurice Legendre was a noted French impressionist and sculptor, especially known for his Parisian and London landmark scenes. The present paintings depict iconic spots in Paris, and their charming size affords the opportunity to hang them anywhere in your home.
Legendre was a pupil of Robert Couturier and Marcel Grimond. In 1954, Legendre won the Blumenthal prize and in 1965 he was awarded the Brantôme prize for sculpture.
The artist specialized in Paris, French Riviera and North Africa scenes.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 2, 1858, and lived in Chicago and then in 1889, settled in Bronxville, New York. Gay was a pupil of Paul Brown and Henry Elkins in Chicago.
