Signed lower right, "Valeur" for Mogens Valeur (Danish, 1927-1999) and dated 1963.
A vibrant, Post-Impressionist seascape showing green breakers rolling in towards a sandy shore beneath an evening sky tinged with lilac and mauve.
A prominent member of the Bornholm School, Mogens Valeur was, at heart, a colorist and focused on representing his chosen subject with line and forms. A student of Peter Rostrup Boyesen, Valeur later attended the Copenhagen Art Academy where he was awarded the prestigious Even Nielsen Scholarship (1952). During the travels funded by this scholarship, Valeur spent three years visiting Italy, Sri Lanka, Nepal and India. Over a long career, he exhibited widely and with success, including at the Charlottenborg Institute and his work can be found in private and public collections.

Mogens Valeur
Mogens Valeur was a Danish Post War and Contemporary painter who was born in 1927. A prominent member of the Bornholm School, Mogens Valeur was, at heart, a colorist and focused on representing his chosen subject with line and forms.
