About the Artist
Reflected in Nancy Hughes Miller’s paintings are the coastal and rural environments of southeastern North Carolina, her birthplace, where she still spends much of her time. As a child, Nancy’s primary education did not include art classes, so she was delighted when one day her oldest brother returned home from college with newsprint and charcoal. She went on to pursue a career path in graphic design and fine arts. Now a full-time artist, Nancy experiments with vibrant colors and fluid forms to create her non-traditional, painterly landscapes. She enjoys working with oils, a medium that dries slowly and lends itself nicely to blending. Nancy strives to produce artwork that is, according to her, “quiet, yet bold.â€
