About the Item
"Happy Memories" – Original Acrylic Painting by French Artist Natalya Mougenot
This contemporary abstract-impressionist nature painting, executed with touches of Art Brut and Impressionism, was created by French artist Natalya Mougenot and is part of her ongoing series dedicated to nature. In this collection, the artist explores the dynamic energy, beauty, and emotional resonance of the natural world, translating fleeting moments of light, color, and movement into bold, expressive compositions.
Happy Memories measures 80 × 80 × 4 cm (31.5 × 31.5 × 1.6 in), with large painted sides, making it ready to hang without a frame. The painting captures a vibrant seascape teeming with life. The foreground bursts with a lush field of wildflowers, painted in rich greens accented with splashes of red, yellow, and brown, evoking an abundant, untamed environment. The layered brushstrokes create texture and movement, inviting the viewer to feel the gentle sway of the grass in the wind.
The mid-ground transitions to the sea, where blended blues and greens convey the shimmering, fluid nature of the water. Variations in hue create depth and suggest the play of light across the waves, capturing the ever-changing essence of the ocean.
Above, the sky erupts in a dramatic swirl of intense blues, punctuated by vibrant oranges, reds, and purples. This expressive sky balances the composition and evokes a sense of awe, reminiscent of a transformative sunrise or sunset.
The artist’s semi-abstract approach emphasizes emotion and sensation over strict realism, allowing the viewer to experience the raw beauty and energy of nature through color, form, and movement. The bold, textured application of paint, combined with the emotive color palette, makes this painting a compelling focal point for any interior.
Executed in acrylic on cotton stretched canvas, the painting is coated with a high-gloss varnish, enhancing its luminosity while protecting it from dust and fading. The artwork is ready to hang upon delivery.
This is a one-of-a-kind, original hand-painted artwork, signed on the front and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Each piece is carefully packed in a protective cardboard box with bubble wrap and shipped promptly.
Please note: Colors may vary slightly between the actual painting and images due to photography and monitor settings.
About the Artist:
Originally from Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, and now based in Lyon, France, Natalya Mougenot has spent over two decades refining her artistic voice. Her multicultural background and personal experience inform her bold, expressive works, which have found homes in private collections around the world.
Natalya’s distinctive visual language blends Abstract Expressionism, Impressionism, Art Naïf, and Art Brut—resulting in paintings that are raw, instinctive, and emotionally resonant. Across her work, three values guide her: authenticity, sincerity, and honesty.
“Authenticity is everything,” she says. “People can always feel when something is real—or when it’s not. I want my work to be honest, to come from a place that’s true.”
In addition to painting, Natalya is also a passionate photographer. Her photographic work—also featured on this platform—mirrors her painterly sensibility: a poetic, observational approach that captures the quiet power of everyday life. For her, photography is both inspiration and a form of presence, often serving as visual sketches for future paintings or existing as standalone works.

Natalya is a contemporary artist from Lyon, France. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes and low mountains. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis when she was struggling with radical life changes. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. Several years ago painting became more than a hobby. It became a way of expressing her emotions and visions, a successive reaction to events of either personal or general concern. Her artist statement: “ I paint as it’s a necessity for my soul to express itself. Being creative for me is overcoming the restrictions. My art is a piece of my soul. I hope my art inspires reflection, provides a release and forms connection at other people’s souls”. She has developed her own vision of art through practicing a lot. She makes use of varying degrees of figuration, abstraction and impressionism by adding a contemporary twist. Abstract art for her is an interesting challenge for understanding inner feelings, a self-expression based on an intuitive approach. In figurative art her main subject remains women. Her artworks representing women contain the raw emotions of women. She also communicates the importance and the power of strong female relationships: “Women are enriched when they bond with each other”. She works in series: among them are "Heart-mind connection" of abstract artworks, "Women", "Bond", "Florals", "Springtime"... She uses various mediums ( acrylic, oil, watercolor, oil pastels) to create her unique artworks either on canvas or on paper. But she mainly uses acrylic as she works very quickly and expressively by finishing her artwork in one sitting. If Natalya had to pick one quote about her art, she would say : " Art is the reflection of the soul". Natalya goes with her gut and intuition to choose the colors, the lines, the shapes and the texture. She hopes her artworks will give a home a unique personality by filling it with life and color. Her sources of inspirations are Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, George-Daniel de Monfreid, Paul Gauguin. She also admires the artworks of Joan Mitchell and Banksy.

About the artist.
Clivette was born in Portage, Wisconsin, in 1868 as Merton Clive Cook, the youngest of five (four sons and one daughter). His father was a retired British sea captain, and his mother was an American of French, Scottish and Iroquois Indian stock.
He stayed with a circus for about five years, traveling all over the Western United States, Canada and Mexico. They did shows for the army forts, for railroad workers and on Indian Reservations.
Clivette settled in San Francisco in 1886, when he was offered a job as a reporter and theatrical writer for the San Francisco Call. He met Frederic Remington during this period. He was the first serious artist Clivette had met and he was an inspiration to him.
Clivette had done some drawing and painting on the road during his vaudeville years, he had a natural facility for it, and he had had some formal art training as well. He had had some training in Europe and was aware of the modern art movement in Europe. Later in New York he participated in symposiums and workshops at the Art Students League. Around 1910 he gave up his stage career and began to paint full time. He was about 40 years old and was to continue to paint vigorously and prolifically for the remaining 22 years of his life, His style can be identified with the Expressionist Movement, His subjects include portraits (some quite realistic, others more generalized) Indians and horsemen, laborers, gentlemen and vamps, jungle animals and birds, fish, seascapes and landscapes.
He was an active participant in the art world of New York. He was a member of the Society of Independent Artists. In 1923 he showed at the Ainslee Art Gallery at 677 Fifth Ave., in 1925 at the Spanish Society in Brooklyn and in 1927 he had a solo show at the New Gallery, 600 Madison Ave. That same year there was also a solo show of his work in Paris at the Bernheim-Jeune Gallery, which included a catalogue. In 1929 he exhibited at the Art Center of the Roerich Museum in a group show of work from the collection of George Hellman. In 1930 he was in a show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, "Painting and Sculpture by Living Americans" which also included the work of Stuart Davis, Arthur Dove, William Glackens, Marsden Hartley, Childe Hassam, George Luks and Mark Tobey and sculptors Gaston Lachaise and William Zorach among others. A description and critical analysis of his work in included in the book by Henry Rankin Poore...
