Neal Hughes
Sunrise Tug, original realist impressionist nocturnal marine landscape

About the Item

Weary from the drive to the coast, you are rewarded by a sunrise that you will recall for years to come! The realist impressionist nocturnal setting at the marina is so exacting in color, texture, scale and motion that you wonder if the tug boat is a marine landscape in oil or a fanciful dream. This original marine landscape as framed by distinguished marine artist Neal Hughes is 26x30x1; with the understated plein air frame and linear orange sky, the work would be well suited to either a transitional or traditional space. A graduate of the Philadelphia College of Art, Hughes has been painting for more than thirty years. Now, Hughes is a Fellow of the American Society of Marine Artists and also an extensively awarded artist for his participation in prestigious art shows, sponsored by Oil Painters of America, national and regional, the Portrait Society of America and others. As recently as 2023 Hughes received the God Medal Award from Oil Painters of America, the Artists Choice Award and the Life of a Waterman Award from the highly competitive Easton, MD Plein Air competition! While best known for his seascapes, Hughes' works have a mystique from within that leaves the viewer wondering about the back story! Hughes oil paintings are very collection worthy!
