About the Item
Rob Katkowski’s original oil painting, Cemetery Paths, is a thought-provoking composition that blends quiet minimalism with a subtle, emotional narrative. Measuring 12 inches square and painted in oil on a wood panel, this evocative piece captures a serene yet haunting landscape, reflecting Katkowski’s fascination with transitional spaces and the boundaries between seen and unseen worlds.
The muted color palette creates an ethereal atmosphere, with the sky rendered in soft, dusty pinks that evoke a twilight or dawn stillness. A faint, glowing moon hovers in the top right corner, accompanied by a delicate horizontal line suggesting the faint trace of a distant cloud or celestial path. This celestial touch amplifies the quiet mysticism that permeates the work.
The foreground features an expansive, sloping hill painted in muted greys, with subtle textures and tonal variations that bring the surface to life. Across this hill, dark, winding paths are etched like scars, drawing the eye toward the peak where a single red circular form stands out. This rich crimson hue, vibrant against the subdued backdrop, invites curiosity and contemplation—it could symbolize a marker, a memory, or a focal point of significance. Near the red form, two faint white marks resembling a similar shape as the path add a layer of intrigue and balance to the composition.
To the left, abstracted evergreen trees punctuate the scene with muted greens and hints of gold, their vertical forms contrasting the flowing lines of the hill. These trees offer a sense of grounding while enhancing the painting’s connection to themes of place, memory, and reverence. The deliberate use of line and form throughout the work showcases Katkowski’s refined technique and ability to weave narrative into minimalist abstraction.
This ready-to-hang artwork features clean, painted edges, ensuring a polished, frameless presentation that suits modern interiors. Cemetery Paths offers art collectors a contemplative piece that explores themes of memory, pathways, and quiet reflection. It invites viewers to pause and engage with its layers of subtle symbolism and emotional resonance. Convenient local Los Angeles delivery and affordable US and international shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included.
Katkowski’s artistic voice, shaped by his deep interest in alternate realities and metaphysical landscapes, shines through in this painting. His celebrated career, including works in prestigious collections like PNC Bank and the Fairmont Hotel, reinforces the significance of his art. For those drawn to minimalist landscapes, symbolic abstraction, or art that balances stillness with mystery, Cemetery Paths serves as a profound and versatile addition to any collection. It is a window into a moment of solitude—where paths converge, memories linger, and the unknown beckons.

Born just outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Rob Katkowski is a visionary artist whose work transports viewers to ethereal landscapes and mysterious transitional spaces. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a BFA in Painting (1998) and an MFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (2007), Katkowski’s artistic journey is defined by a profound exploration of alternate realities and the invisible pathways that connect them. Shortly after earning his MFA, Katkowski was selected for the prestigious Brewhouse Distillery Artist Residency in Pittsburgh, where he later co-led the program from 2008 to 2011. His art has been exhibited widely across the United States and internationally. Notable collections include the Fairmont Hotel (Pittsburgh, PA) and PNC Bank (Manhattan, NY, and Pittsburgh, PA). Katkowski's art is a window into the unknown, blending serene landscapes with hints of other worldly dimensions. His compositions often feature leafless trees
marking the thresholds of lost worlds, shimmering ponds revealing hidden
watery passages, or twilight doorways to alternate realities. His works delve into
transitional spaces, evoking the thin veil between the physical and metaphysical
realms where unseen pathways to the unknown are revealed. After spending several years in New York City, Katkowski returned to Seattle, where he continued to create paintings that inspire curiosity and wonder. His artworks
invite the viewer to consider profound questions: If other worlds exist, how might
we reach them? Through his distinctive style and narrative-rich compositions,
Katkowski sets up scenarios that unlock these invisible realms, allowing the
imagination to explore their mysterious depths. Katkowski’s work has captured the attention of collectors and galleries alike, standing as a testament to his ability to create captivating, multidimensional worlds
that linger in the minds of those who encounter them.

Looking at the Swallow Birds - Large Original Painting on Canvas
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Mohamad Khayata’s original figurative artworks are the result of five years of displacement and deal with themes of migration, memory, and identity. Mohamad’s paintings exhibit an array of emotions, ranging from bliss and comfort to tension and uncertainty. Many of his artworks portray a sense of transience, which is all the more palpable when considering that Khayata's intimate work is a tribute to displaced people and to their daily life stories that, far from familiar surroundings, are filled with effort and hope.
Khayata created this original painting with acrylic paint on canvas. It measures 46 inches high by 39 inches wide. This artwork was created in the artist's new studio after his previous studio was destroyed in the 2020 blast in Beirut. It is signed by the artist on the back of the canvas. This painting is stretched, wired, and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this original work.
This artwork is part of a new series of imagery by the artist, in which Khayata's illustrative paintings are strategically placed to mingle with people and the environment. These paintings amass a memorial narrative; connecting the artist and the viewer to the rich cultural heritage of Syria and the larger narrative of what it means to be home.
Born in Damascus, Syria, artist Mohamad Khayata was forced to flee his home country due to ongoing political conflict. Khayata has been living in Beirut, Lebanon since 2012. His work is a resounding call for transformation and unity within his home country. His photography project "Stitching my Syria back" was chosen to be part of Journeys Festival International 2016 as a landmark for the “Look up” project in Leicester, where his photographs were installed on ten buildings. During this public exhibition coordinated with the Royal Institute of British Architects, his photographs were installed on ten buildings, fostering a deeper connection between art and the public, highlighting empowerment and enriching a younger generation’s aspirations for the future.
In the last few years, Khayata has participated in an increasing number of collective exhibitions across Europe and the Middle East, where his distinctive style and original approach have captivated audiences, leading to sold-out exhibitions each time, cementing his status as a sought-after artist in the global art scene. Holding his BA in Fine Arts obtained at Damascus University, Khayata is a bastion of Syrian legacy, memory, home, and happiness.
