Edward Minoff
Circle Cycle

2016

About the Item

Circle Cycle is a realist painting of the cycle of waves crashing onto the shore, returning to the expansive ocean, and crash again. Minoff translates the constant motion of the ocean well, with smooth spots of white; suds that form from movement within the water. As the water retracts from the sand, it leaves a wet, silvery blue residue. Bordered with Gold Leaf and mounted on Wood, this Minoff painting is a decadent adornment. Edward Minoff Graduated with honors from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Throughout his high school and college years he studied painting and sculpture at the Art Students League of New York, The National Academy School of Design, and later at Vassar College. He has also copied works at the Louvre, Prado, and the Metropolitan Museum, where he subsequently taught a class in copying master works. After co-founding the animation house, AMPnyc, he began to study at the Water Street Atelier. In 1999 the lure of the studio became irresistible and he left his animation company to fully devote himself to painting. Later, he journeyed to Italy to study at the Florence Academy of Art. His work has shown in New York, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Washington DC, Houston, Greenwich and Nantucket. He now resides in Brooklyn with his wife, two children and bulldog.
