About the artist:
Robert Wee was born in 1927 in Estherville, Iowa. After serving in the Navy, Wee attended the Art Institute of Chicago where he majored in drawing, painting and illustrating, graduating in 1951. After a career as a commercial illustrator, Wee moved to California in 1954 to create his own art. In the late 1980s, Wee moved from southern California to a home in the Sierra mountains
A graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago, Robert Wee usually paints with oil on masonite panels to create his memorable sea and landscapes. Finding the medium to be a versatile one, Robert takes advantage of the many textures he can produce, ranging from smooth and sleek to impasto. The masonite panel allows him to begin with a smooth surface and create the texture with paint by using a heavily loaded brush, a palette knife, or a combination of the two. Through his years of experience, Robert Wee has become more inclined to paint in a bold, loose style, which lends itself well to depicting the constant movement of the ocean. This style can just as readily be applied to landscapes and rivers, foothills and snowcapped peaks. His goal is not to copy nature, but to interpret it. The emotions that move him when he sees a magnificent sky, sun slicing through an ocean wave, a headland emerging through fog, or any number of nature"s scenes, are what he aspires to capture and share with the viewer. "If I can give the viewer the same excitement I felt when I saw the subject, then I have produced a good painting. Through fine California galleries, Robert wee"s dinstinct works are in private and corporate collections all over the world. Also doing commission work for interior designers, Robert Wee recently did four large originals of the Pismo Beach area for Cliffs Resort.

Delos Palmer, Jr. was born January 26, 1890 in New York City. His father was Dr. Delos Palmer, a socially prominent Park Avenue dentist. His mother was Jennifer Emma Banta. His parents were both born in NYC, where they married in 1880 and had five children. There had three sons and two daughters. He was the fourth born. They lived in a private townhouse at 48 West 50th Street, with a cook, a waitress, and a nurse to assist in his father's dental practice on the ground floor.
They lived a privileged life and the children all went to the best private schools. He graduated high school in June of 1908.
He studied at The Art Students League from 1911 to 1915 with the renowned American Impressionist, George Bellows. According to the artist, "Bellows was a good influence on me. He taught me how to paint what I see and what I feel!"
In 1916 Palmer moved to the historic Holbein Studios at 139 West 55th Street. He worked there until 1920, when he moved to the more fashionable Greenwich Village, where he became a successful society portraitist.
He was 27 years old during the Great War, so he was not selected for military service.
In 1923 Palmer began to sell interior story illustrations to Metropolitan Magazine, The Saturday Evening Post, and Liberty.
In 1924 he married Helen Smith Romme and moved to Stamford, CT, where they raised a daughter and two step-sons.
The fateful market crash of 1929 ended Palmer's high society portrait business, but he soon found work through his contacts at Liberty magazine's MacFadden Publishing, which also produced several crime and detective magazines such as Master Detective and True Detective.
He then began to paint pulp covers for Dime Mystery, Clues, Frontier Stories, Action Stories, Western Trails, All Star Adventure, Complete Western Book...
