This contemporary painting—an abstract landscape -- is by Canadian artist Sasha Rogers.
The infinite view of a prairie landscape has long influenced the contemporary artwork of Sasha Rogers. Layers of subtle color and expressive gestural brushstrokes appear to cast shadows across the canvas in this dramatic abstract painting by Sasha Rogers. The colors are an inspired mix of white, yellow, blue, lilac, rose, orange, and black. Rolling cloud-like shapes in darker hues dominate the upper realm; the lower is light-filled. Rogers’ ethereal paintings are distinguished by a ‘horizon line’ that divides the canvas and naturally draws the viewer’s eye.

Sasha Rogers acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honors in Drawing and Painting at the University of Saskatchewan. A Master of Visual Arts in Painting followed at the University of Alberta where she received the highest distinction given for outstanding research in visual arts. Rogers taught painting and drawing at both the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Toronto. She has had numerous solo exhibitions in Canada and attended international art fairs, and her artwork is held in many corporate collections nationwide. Private collectors span the globe including Canada, the U.S., and Europe.

Sasha Rogers
Sasha Rogers, daughter of premier artist Otto Rogers, received her master's degree in painting in 1987 and was a painting instructor for 12 years. She has been primarily focused on solo exhibits and international art fairs and is in numerous private collections in Canada, the USA and Europe. Rogers' works have been influenced by the work of William Turner, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Antoni Tàpies and her father, Otto Rogers. What collectively draws her to these great artists is their dedication to evocative metaphors rather than literal descriptions. Rogers states, "They invite rather than prescribe."
