Scott Naismith's painting 'Breaking Light' is an original mixed media painting using oil, acrylic and spray paint on linen. Scott Naismith usually paints bright and vibrant abstract paintings of the Scottish Landscape, which is what this work of art features. Naismith has used a very lovely colour pallet for this painting involving many shades of blue, grey and green for the sea with shadows of yellow light peeping through the sky. This painting is sold unframed but the edges are painting black, allowing the painting to be hung unframed and with a highly contemporary finish.
Landscape artist Scott Naismith studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. In June 2000 landscape and seascape artist Scott Naismtih left with a BDes in Illustration and printmaking. Since graduating Scott Naismith has been a full time artist, working from his studio in Glasgow. Much of his time is spent travelling around the country looking for inspiration for another depiction of the Scottish landscape. Scott Naismith's paintings are derived from his love of the Scottish landscape and is portrayed through the energy in his paintings. The vigorous application of paint represents the ever-changing light and atmospheric conditions of the west coast of Scotland. Scott Naismith explores with colour which may not be entirely representational, moreover his emotional response to the subject.

Scott Naismith
Scott Naismith was born in Glasgow in 1978 and attended Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design full time from 1996 – 2000, with the ambition of becoming an artist. He graduated with a BDes (Hons) in Illustration and Printmaking. Naismith is inspired by the landscape of the West Coast of Scotland. His vibrant color palette isn’t always entirely representational, more than his emotional response to the landscape. His approach to painting draws upon tremendous energy and positivity, which is reflected in the themes of hope and optimism that infuse his work.
