About the Item
Latgale. The river Daugava
Oil on board, 40,5x50 cm
The River Daugava, one of the largest rivers in Latvia, is the central element of the painting. The artist has used various shades of blue to depict the river, capturing its flowing motion and reflecting the surrounding landscape. The brushstrokes and texture on the board adds depth and movement to the representation of the water. The surrounding landscape of Latgale is portrayed with attention to detail. The artist has depicted the calmness of Latvian countryside, including small living houses and green meadows with bushes and trees lining the riverbanks.
