Stefan Gevers
One Fine Morning, contemporary small, framed watercolour landscape painting

2022

About the Item

Original artwork by Stefan Gevers, watercolour on board, framed in stained oak. Signed on reverse. The iconic character of rural areas contributes to outlining the personality of the landscapes and the symbolic characteristics of these places. Between the act of representation and of familiarising oneself with the place, showing the main form and features of the land, in a way that helps people to understand it. In human geography it is the material formation of the landscape, its shaping, and reshaping, in which social structures and cultural worlds are enfolded. To comprehend the landscape sometimes you need to see the organic quality of the land. Every landscape has individuality as well as relation to other landscapes and the same is true for the forms that make it up. Stefan Gevers is an award winning artist and his works are held in the public collections of the National Australia Bank, Artbank, Banyule Council, State Library of Victoria & State Library of Queensland, Peter McCallum Collection and Private Collections.

Never had I encountered such an extraordinary feeling of freedom and wonder. I had found my place in the world. While attending the School of Visual Arts I fed off The Abstract Expressionist movement, looking closely at the work of Franz Kline, Motherwell and Joan Mitchell. It was during my senior year that I began to focus on the color and spacial work of Blinky Palermo...
