A gold-leaf landscape painting by Sophie Berger. This original oil painting on canvas board has the depth and moodiness of a Dartmoor sky as well as the vivid sunshine hiding beneath the clouds. This is captured by the iridescent glory of the gold leaf. When the viewer is moving around the room the reflection on the gold leaf changes the whole painting as it glows and reflects. Sophie Berger's recent work has been greatly influenced by her move to Devon and a new found love of the Dartmoor. She often sketches on the north moors and in Skaigh woods, taking in the mood of the sky, rolling hills and streams or concentrating on the intricate twisted branches and roots of the bracken.
