About the Item
A beautiful oil on canvas painting by the French artist, Te Pencke. Pencke was a Parisian painter known for his colorful cityscapes depicting the times of his generation. His work is comparable to those of Jules Herve, Antoine Blanchard and Edouard Cortes. This painting is a wonderful example of his work from the prime of his career. Here you see a busy street at twilight, with the horses and carriage along the Grands Boulevards of Paris. People are scattered throughout with a shops and cafes between the tree lined street. The details are magnificent as Pencke captures the architecture of Paris so beautifully; you can feel the energy of the day and the excitement. The painting is signed lower right by the artist and it comes housed in original ornate style gold tone frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.
