About the Item
Coates is mostly known for his equine paintings and scenes showing racetracks around the world. Coates also captures moments from his travels in his paintings. Throughout his career Coates has taught at various art schools but still keeping painting as his main priority. He has produced works for the military and for the Prince of Wales. Coates was also former President of the New English Art Club, the Royal Society of British Artists and the Pastel Society and was a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
