A wonderful impressionist pastoral landscape with beautiful color tones throughout. Thomas deDecker has portrayed this piece in a most intimate, yet energetic way, and has packed much feeling into this vibrant work. It is almost as if we are there on that day, bringing a beautiful feeling of nostalgia reminiscent of Claude Monet's works. With the use of pastel pink and blue, raw sienna, olive green, red & alizarin crimson, teal & persian green, the colorful rendition of the countryside is a stunning sight, deDecker is known for capturing the beauty and simplicity of our times. Depicting a peaceful landscape with the use of vibrant colors while engaging his audience with detailed brushwork and great attention to picking up the energy passionately of his subject. This painting is an oil on board and it is signed by the artist lower left and inscribed on verso, it comes housed in a contemporary gold leaf plain air wood frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.

Thomas deDecker was born in 1951, in Appleton, Wisconsin and from 1975, lived in Redmond, Washington. Before deDecker attended college, he was primarily interested in archaeology and anthropology, but was inspired by a student art show at Brigham Young University where he was enrolled. After college, he traveled throughout the West and then settled in Washington State because of his interest in the Plains tribes. He is a traditional painter reminiscent of the peaceful lifestyle of the western Indian before 1880. His works are similar to the masters of the Hudson River School of Art, with a main focus on western landscapes, and landscapes in the Hudson River style. He also paints scenes of Native American life and customs.

Johann Berthelsen was born in Copenhagen in 1883, the 7th of seven children, to Conrad and Dorothea Karen Berthelsen. His parents were involved in artistic and professional circles. In 1890, his mother brought the children to America, settling in Manistee, Michigan, with her sister's family. They would eventually move to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, a city on the shore of Lake Michigan. As a teenager, Johann was actively involved in choirs and singing groups. And he always loved to draw and paint, and while he was too impatient to take well to schoolwork, and never went beyond the 5th grade.
Although he worked in several trades, Johann's mind and heart were always with the arts. As his voice matured, he also always wanted to be an actor, and at the age of 18 moved to Chicago where he reconnected with an old friend who was studying voice at the Chicago Musical...

Hannig, born in Hirschberg, Germany on 27 February 1883, came to America with his parents at the age of seven. He attended school in the southwest suburbs before the family settled in Chicago. Young Henry enrolled in the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts where Lawton Parker became his mentor. He made ends meet by working in industrial design and illustration.
By 1908 he was a pupil in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where students followed the traditional European drawing curriculum, beginning with the copying of master engravings and drawing after plaster casts, then concentrating on the nude figure.
