Mountain Spring

2022

About the Item

High Plains Drifter II, oil on panel, 24 x 48 inches (Framed size: 31 x 55 inches), $5,200 Raised in the Bear River Valley, Tom Howard has an attachment to the land that runs deep. Surrounded by the vast expanse of land and mountains, he learned at an early age that he loved to draw and paint the scenery he called home. Today Howard’s landscapes captivate those looking for solace in their surroundings. The tranquility found in nature is imbued in his work. As Howard says, “it is the sense of being completely alone and yet in the presence of something truly grand and beautiful.” He wishes “for [his] paintings to fill one with a sense of peace and rest and still stimulate the soul”. Tom Howard received his BFA from the University of Utah in 1984 and his MFA from Brigham Young University in 1995. He currently teaches at Salt Lake Community College and is a member of the Utah Watercolor Society and the Plein air painters of Utah.

    By Francis DiFronzo
    Located in Fairfield, CT
Born in San Pedro, California in 1969, Francis DiFronzo has been painting and exhibiting his artwork in the United States for more than thirty years. "I discovered at a young age that art had the ability to transport me out of my world and into the lives of artists I admired. When I looked at paintings by Andrew Wyeth or Edward Hopper, I felt as though I was momentarily living in the worlds they created. I wanted to do the same thing. I wanted my work to have that power." After receiving his B.F.A in 1994 from California State University, Fullerton, DiFronzo moved to Philadelphia, PA where he continued his studies in drawing and painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. There he worked and learned under the guidance of artists Murray Dessner, Jan Baltzell, Sidney Goodman, Vincent Desiderio and Irving Petlin. Di Fronzo...
