About the Item
This painting is one of the finest examples of Tom's painting style and materials. Color and paint burst across the canvas, imbued with movement of clouds, sun and water. From a distant shore, County Mayo Beach, Ireland, brings home all good things - clouds made from the semi-precious stone lapis lazuli, a deep purple earth pigment in the mountains, and a crisp, warm, historical lemon yellow pigment for the sun, reflecting it's unique alchemical qualities in the airy ocean water, at the day's peaceful ending. Bouncing around in a seemingly uncontrolled fashion, the light in this picture is contained, arranged and presented in the least filtered manner. Tom is overwhelmed by this calm intensity. Using oil paint to express spontaneity and vigor, is a wonder to rest your eyes upon. Unfold before it and dance with light and energy that emanates from it. Some might call it alchemy, that finds its way in my paintings as a strong unavoidable vibration from my own hand and the materials I use. Tom Irizarry is a man who does not compromise in any avenue of life and especially in making paintings. My work, like myself, stands firm on it's own ground. If you can see a fraction of what goes through my imagination as I am painting, well then my job is complete.
