About the Item

Tom Ivester Lloyd 1871-1942 was a fine artist who worked mainly in water colour but was also very accomplished in oils. He served in the first war and produced pictorial records which are now in the army museum. He was a keen hunting man and was Master of the Sherrington Foot Beagles. He was a great hound man and wrote and illustrated a book on hounds. Acquiring an early 20th-century English fox hunting oil painting by Thomas Ivestor Lloyd is an opportunity to bring the spirit of tradition and the allure of the countryside into your living space. Lloyd's artistry not only captures the dynamic energy of fox hunting but also preserves a snapshot of a bygone era, offering a unique blend of historical significance and aesthetic appeal. This masterpiece is not merely a painting; it's an immersive experience that transports you to the early 20th-century English landscape, where the thrill of the hunt unfolds amidst the natural beauty of the countryside. Lloyd's attention to detail, vibrant use of color, and skilled depiction of fox hounds create a scene that evokes both the excitement of the chase and the harmony between man, animal, and nature. Owning this painting is an investment in a piece of English heritage, a nod to the cultural and sporting traditions that have shaped the country's history. Displaying Lloyd's work in your home not only adds a touch of elegance but also sparks conversations about the rich tapestry of rural life and sporting pursuits that define the early 20th century. In essence, this painting is an invitation to relish the nostalgia, elegance, and timeless appeal of English fox hunting, as envisioned by the skilled hand of Thomas Ivestor Lloyd, a captivating addition to any art collection that resonates with the charm of a bygone era. This example is monogrammed lower right and also inscribed on the reverse.
