- Bon VoyageBy Travis WalkerLocated in Denver, COFor the last 10 years Travis Walker has made landscape paintings about Jackson Hole, a place that never ceases to inspire him to pick up his brushes. He works on location, capturing the essence of the seemingly mundane scenes around town: an old salon, a decaying house with a fence made of skis, a vintage trailer park. His work is influenced by the work of American regionalists Edward Hopper and Grant Wood, Japanese printmaking, and German Expressionism. Travis Walker is the founder and director of Teton Artlab, a nonprofit arts organization that provides studio space for artists. He was born in 1976 in Tokyo, Japan, and earned his BFA in Painting and Printmaking in 2000 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Recent group exhibitions include the 2012 Western Visions Show and Sale and the 2013 and 2012 Takin' It to the Streets Art Fair, among many others. Solo exhibitions include "American Dreams" in 2012 at Cowboy Coffee...Category

- South ReachBy Beau CareyLocated in Denver, COBy using references to navigational coastal profiling and by borrowing and subverting compositional structures of the 19th century American landscape painters I examine how modern landscapes came to be spatially constructed. Through a combination of on-site field studies and larger studio pieces I make bodies of work that reflect the individual characteristics of a specific place while retaining a critical awareness of the landscape genre. This practice, while fully absorbed into the cliché of modern landscape painting, is not innocuous. It is rooted in a history of globalism and environmental dominance. Through my work I explore this spatial language at times allowing individual works to teeter into abstraction. The works in Rise look specifically at how we will navigate and view a rapidly changing physical world. - Beau CareyCategory

- "Echo 1", Pair of Impressionist Style Oil Painting on Canvas, Waterscape DiptychBy Jill HackneyLocated in St. Louis, MO"A native of New Orleans, Jill Hackney studied painting at The Cleveland Institute of Art and Louisiana State University, where she earned her BFA. She is a founding member and twice president of Studio 801, an artists’ cooperative in Baton Rouge. She was also recently selected as a Fellow of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation for her work as President of the NUNU Arts and Culture Collective. Best known for her still life and landscape work, her focus is to show light’s impact on her subjects through layers of vertical and linear strokes. Using the natural texture of the wood on which she paints, each painting is approached with a sense of nostalgia. The end effect is a union of the senses, which awakens feelings of joy, serenity, and peace. Jill currently functions as the Director of International Communications for NUNU Arts and Culture Collective." "Echo 1", Pair of Impressionist...Category

- Section 35By Don PollackLocated in Chicago, ILDon Pollack BIOGRAPHY Don Pollack is a Painter and Adjunct Associate Professor of Visual Communication at theSchool of t he Art Institute of Chicago. His work investigates among other things, the relationship between personal mythologies and representation in painting and how it may simultaneously give reference to a narrative.Working in cross disciplines has influenced his perspectives as projects begin with an epic adventure. Conceptually proceeding from the premise that all vision is historic and constructed, Pollack’s research starts with the planning of a long distance trek,– such as a 3000 mile journey via bicycle following Lewis and Clark. His work has utilized maps, documents, photography, painting, and installation. This work was routed in a previous investigation into the role of museums in the process of forming collective memory. Don studied design at the University of Illinois and painting at the Ohio State University where he received his MFA.The state of Illinois has recognized his history based work with a special bicentennial edition of the ‘Order of Abraham Lincoln’ award. He has exhibited nationally and internationally and has shown many solo shows in, Chicago, NewYork, Atlanta, and Canada. Don Pollack EDUCATION m.f.a. Ohio State University Columbus,Ohio b.f.a.
