About the Item
Oil painting on panel with painted wooden frame, measurements without frame are 26 x 35 cm.
the landscape depicts a marina with stacks reminiscent of southern Italian islands such as Sicily and sardinia, specifically there seem to be references to the island of Capri. interesting to note the attention to the rendering of details in the landscape, from the Mediterranean vegetation to the rocks, reflections and sea foam, totally absent is the human figure, whose presence or passage from the building on the left, however, we sense.
The author of the painting was certainly influenced by the style of Antonino Leto, a Macchiaioli painter trained in Naples, but because of the much faster and less prepared technique it can be postponed to the first half of the 20th century. Traces of an inscription can be read in the lower left corner, of which the capital letter l can be recognized in italics.
