About the Item

An interesting grand tour collection of six oil on board, painted in the 19th century, uniformly elaborately framed, isolated in black modern frames. Some bear of signatures and Some old stickers with depiction designations on the verso. Sizes are same for the height 26 cm and about the Width starts from 37,5 cm to 39 cm The first one is a view Ponte Nomentano (called Pons Lamentanus during the Middle Ages) is a Roman bridge in Rome, Italy, which carried the Via Nomentana over the Aniene (Latin: Anio). Having lain outside the city limits for most of its history, the picturesque bridge is noted for its medieval bridge tower, which served to protect this important northern approach to Rome; it was built at the foot of the Monte Sacro hill, a place crossed by the passage of transhumant herds since ancient times. Together with the Milvian bridge and the Salario bridge, it was one of the most important extra-urban bridges in ancient Rome. A local tradition has a meeting on this bridge in the 19th century between Charlemagne and Leo III. The second one is a view of Caste Sant'Angelo from the River Tiber represent a typically daily scene of Rome at the end of the 19th century in a perfect grand tour style; the view from the bank of the Tiber with fishermans and boats, Castel Sant'Angelo with the Angel's Bridge and on the background the dome of Saint Peter. The third one is an impressive view of St Peter's Basilica and of the square with the the obelisk and the colonnade, painted from the Spina di Borgo. After the construction desired by Pope Alexander VI in the imminence of the Jubilee of 1500 of the Via Alessandrina, with the subsequent transformations called Borgo Nuovo by the Romans, the buildings of the Borgo were delimited by two streets (converging in the shape of a wedge) called Borgo Nuovo the one north, and Borgo Vecchio, the one to the south. The result was an urban layout with an elongated triangular shape with the tip facing Castel Sant'Angelo, which, due to its resemblance to that of the spina of a Roman circus, took the name of "Spina di Borgo".In the following centuries there were numerous intentions of the popes aimed at demolishing the plug with projects by well-known architects (among these: Carlo Fontana in 1692, Cosimo Morelli in 1776 and Giuseppe Valadier visible from a drawing from 1812). However, we had to wait until the first decades of the twentieth century to return to concretely discussing the demolition of the spina: the works continued from 1936, when, on the basis of a project developed by Marcello Piacentini and Attilio Spaccarelli, via della Conciliazione was built, until 1950 , on the occasion of the jubilee. In the fourth one a fantastic view of Piazza del Popolo with the obelisk and the twin Churchs, Santa Maria in Montesanto, also known as the "Church of the Artists", and Santa Maria dei Miracoli, originally designed by Carlo Rainaldi, and both subsequently completed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. In the fifth one an interesting painting that show a view of the Palazzo del Quirinale and Palazzo della Consulta. The artist portrait an important description of these buildings placing emphasis on details that can let the observer understand everything. The with flag of the reign of Italy, on the balcony on the main floor of the Palazzo della consulta on the right of the Quirinale give us the timeline of the painting because from 1871 to 1874 was the residence of the Price of the Crown and his wife Margherita di Savoia, at the flag was a painted to represents the importance of the illustrious resident as well as carriage with the white horses and the soldiers at the gate. The palace on the left, called il Quirinale, located on the Via del Quirinale and facing onto the Piazza del Quirinale, was built in 1583 by Pope Gregory XIII as a papal summer residence. The Quirinal Palace was selected by Napoleon to be his residence par excellence as emperor. However, he never stayed there because of the French defeat in 1814 and the subsequent European Restoration. A sign of signature on the bottom side
