Valérie de Sarrieu attempts to capture the lights of the landscapes she sees throughout the day and in various seasons as accurately as she can. A brief moment must be captured for Valérie de Sarrieu's work to resemble a photographic project because of the significance of light and the passage of time.
These days, the artist primarily creates "sur le motif" (en plein air) paintings while outside. “Working on the place and its responsiveness, on the light of that precise moment, and its simplest and fairest reproduction,” is how she sums up her methodology. Painting from nature implies speed and discipline: Valérie de Sarrieu excels in this exercise thanks to the intimate communion she maintains with the landscape (whether natural or urban) and gives her paintings their sweet and endearing poetry.
