Autumn Leaves II
By Carole Garland
Located in Palm Desert, CA
Creekside one can see the rocks, pebbles and leaves at the bottom of the stream or the viewer can observe the water's surface: floating bugs, bubbles, ripples and reflections, but it's difficult to catch the bottom and the surface simultaneously. However, the photographer or artist can capture the stream's surface and pebble strewn bottom at once. Carole Garland set this as her goal in this painting from her "Reflection" series.
Carole Garland graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Ill., and studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of the Americas in Mexico City. Outdoor workshops with plein air painters Frank Serrano...

Tony Thompson's combination of masterful technique with sustained contemplation results in paintings that are a delight to behold and make his compositions are a timeless contribution to the genre. The light is the main event in bucolic settings, and the artist makes this challenge look simply effortless.
In this painted, a shadowed tree line of cedar trees dominate the foreground of a meadow richly painted in tones of orange and umber. Wispy tree branches are highlighted by a pale pink sky that reflects the setting sun. Thompson's work is at the same traditional yet freshly relevant to today's environment - a classic landscape that has mass appeal!
