'North Coast Stacks', by one of the finest American contemporary realist painters, Willard Dixon, who has painted western landscapes and nature-scenes for 35 years, capturing the undeniable beauty of the West with its grand and humble spirit. This painting depicts an early morning coastal scene with jutting rocks and beautifully lit sunrise. There are low green hills and calm glassy water reflecting sky.
Dixon’s work can be found in numerous distinctive private and public collections, as well as the SFMOMA - San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Oakland Museum of California Art.
Signed front - Also signed, dated, and titled Verso. oil on canvas - 58 x 84 inches. A wonderful contemporary work of original art by Willard Dixon. Comes framed in a minimal hardwood frame.

Willard Dixon
Willard Dixon’s art has been shown extensively in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York, He has had over 40 one-man shows and numerous group shows. His work is in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY, The SFMOMA, and the Oakland Museum of California Art. He has executed large-scale commissions for The California Supreme Court, The Oakland Museum and The Las Vegas Federal Courthouse. He received an NEA Fellowship Grant in 1989. In 2013, one of his portraits was included in The Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition, at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC. Represented by Andra Norris Gallery in California.
