About the Item
Nan Hass Feldman's "Night Message" is a 38 x 30 x 2.25 inch framed acrylic painting on canvas that is a dramatic, Expressionist, and Fauvist. "Night Message" uses the boat, the house, the tree, and the moon as symbols of home, nature, adventure, night-time to express the drama of life.
This painting is a result of the artist getting caught in a squall and her fears came out in the painting. Her husband, an avid sailor and her children were onboard, but it all worked out in the end as they were safely rescued by the coastguard. For Nan, her experiences always come out in the artwork and "Night Message" was a sign that creativity is the best way to express all experiences. The colors are bold---deep blues, reds, ochres, greens, and black.
Nan Hass Feldman has been a full-time artist for over 40 years. Her works, whether Landscapes or Interiors are interpreted through her screen of selective seeing, playful detail, heightened color, and bits of fantasy. Nan’s work is always vibrantly colorful, intricate, enlivening, and upbeat. For Nan, art really is about enhancing and interpreting reality to create a more optimistic and joyous world. Nan’s work has been collected in seven countries, holds a BFA, MA, MFA degrees, teaches in three art museums, runs international painting programs, and runs the Artist Loft on a cruise ship. Feldman is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
