About the Item
Woman in a leotard about to do an aerobic exercise, part of a series of paintings of women at exercise classes. The paintings are the result of individual observation and the collective goodwill (or exhaustive indifference) of the women involved. I apply the acrylic in successive washes to achieve a soft structure and then overpaint most areas with a more opaque use of the pigments. I use artists hogs hair brushes to apply and manipulate the paint with large 2" brushes to spread the washes.
