This superb Post Impressionist Slade School female full length seated nude portrait oil painting is by female artist E A Jay. Painted in the 1940's, the sitter is a model in a women's life class and we can see a female artist at her easel. The model is bathed in sunlight, perfectly captured by Jay, with a red cloth as a real splash of colour. A really engaging painting by a female artist of a woman being painted by women.
Provenance. Previously owned by artist's family.
Condition. Oil on canvas, 30 inches by 20 inches unframed and in good condition.
Housed in a complementary frame, 38 inches by 28 inches framed and in good condition.
