Tetiana Pchelnykova
Self-Perception: Night and Day, original painting by Tetiana Pchelnykova

2024

About the Item

"Self-Perception: Night and Day" is a vibrant work by Ukrainian artist Tatyana Pchelnikova, part of her signature series of paintings "Self-Perception." The painting, executed in oil on a 60x80 cm canvas, embodies the essence of femininity within the perpetual cycle of time. Foregrounding the composition is a nude woman, her grace and serenity accentuated by the soft contours of her figure and the warm glow of the sun-halo above her ornamented veiled head. The veil may signify a connection to ancestry and traditions, while the halo suggests spiritual strength and enlightenment. The scene is harmoniously divided into nocturnal and diurnal realms. To the left of the figure lies a night landscape with the silhouette of a bell tower, shrouded in mystical blues and purples. To the right, the day landscape ascends with silhouettes of churches and cathedrals against a light backdrop, symbolizing renewal and the relentless flow of life. Symbolic depictions of lilies and irises scatter across the canvas, adding elegance and depth to the composition. These flowers could represent purity, divine birth, and hope, as well as the unique paths of self-identification that each woman explores throughout her life. This painting is more than an image; it is a dialogue between the modern woman and her historical heritage, between intimate self-awareness and the external world. Pchelnikova skillfully merges elements of the traditional and contemporary to question the role of women in the creation of familial and societal strength, and how individual experience can be transformed into universal knowledge. The work speaks to the search for wholeness and one's place in the world, to a woman's self-perception as the bearer of the noble force of previous generations. It invites the viewer to contemplate their roots and how personal history impacts consciousness and the choices we make every day. • Nude in French Interior - original extra large oil painting by Paula Craioveanu
    By Paula Craioveanu
    Located in Forest Hills, NY
"Nude in French interior", in a room lighted from one side. Part of my Nude in interior series. Inspired in contrast and colors by French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Nude placed in a French palace, a sober classical interior in contrast with the modern relaxed attitude of the main character. Size is 150x150cm / 59x59in, oil on canvas. Painting was part of my solo show "Nude in Interior", March 2022. Can be shipped rolled in a tube for faster and less expensive shipping. Please inquire. "I started by painting interiors, being interested in space and perspective through my studies. These scenes evolved, when I added the human figure. I focused more on the human figure and its relation to the background. The human figure is more present than ever in my paintings now. As a woman artist I’ve been preoccupied with the female form and its imagery. One of my goals was to capture the solitary moments and the nude’s relation to the surrounding space. My interest turned from depicting the space to rendering the atmosphere and the scene as a whole, the feeling a woman adds to the environment: warmth, desire, joy, a feeling of power and control, or the opposite – sadness, despair. Here is a collection of figurative paintings, exploring the nudes in interior spaces, seeing the nudes from my perspective, as a woman artist, considering the physical and spiritual realities of a woman’s body, in a new level of intimacy. My paintings are the opposite of objectifying a woman’s or a man’s anatomy. Painted works, featuring female nudes and a also men nudes...
