About the Item
This artwork employs a minimalist, abstract approach with strong geometric shapes and a color palette dominated by blues, evoking the feeling of the sea and sky. The painting achieves harmony through the repetition of similar shapes and a limited color range, creating a calm, contemplative mood. Conceptually, the piece invites viewers to interpret the abstract forms subjectively, possibly prompting thoughts about stability, division, or movement, as a sailing boat is often a symbol of freedom, journey, or ambition. The tension between the rigid vertical lines and the soft curve creates a dynamic that suggests both containment and flow, encouraging reflection on how opposing forces coexist. The canvas is signed in front and back and is delivered with a certificate of authenticity. The edges of the painting are painted so no frame is needed.

Basterra's abstract expressionist approach to painting is a response to her environment, nature, and gestural movement. A text-based practice of journaling and communing with nature provides a foundation for her empathy and biophilia.
Always researching her interests, she does not premeditate a composition. She starts working on a painting and thoughts come to her during and after the work is completed. She absorbs her environment and works from an internal subconscious.
