Cristoforo Serra (Cesena, Italy, 1600 - 1689) Title: Portrait of a Shepherd Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: without frame 92 x 75 cm - with frame 106.5 x 94.5 cm Antique gilt-wood cassetta frame, carved and sculpted Expertise by Giancarlo Sestieri, Professor and art historian Publications: unpublished This curious portrait depicts a shepherd who, with a proud look and attitude, is intent on observing the viewer. The rendering of the details, such as the sheep's fleece cloth placed on his legs, stands out; the intense modelling, rendered with clear chromatic drafts, and the stylistic approach have led us to attribute the work to Cristoforo Serra, a painter from Romagna in the 17th century.
