The Good Shepherd Antique German Oil Painting on Canvas Christ with Lamb

c.1900

About the Item

"The Good Shepherd" German School, circa 1900 oil painting on canvas, framed canvas: 19.75 x 24 inches framed: 25 x 30 inches Beautiful oil painting depicting Christ with a lamb in the wilderness. The subject is taken from the Gospel of St. Luke where Christ tells the story of the 'Good Shepherd'...."If one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, doesn't he leave the ninety nine and go after the lost one? And when he finds it, he takes it with joy on his shoulders and when he comes home he calls his friends and neighbours together and says to them, 'Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost!'. I tell you, there will also be more joy in heaven about a single sinner who repented, than more than ninety nine righteous who need no repentance. The work is of German authorship and dates to circa 1900. AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE PURCHASE Condition report: The painting is in overall good and sound condition, the frame has a few losses.
