Hiroshi Sato, born in September 1987 in Japan, is a distinguished contemporary artist known for his realist paintings that delve into human consciousness and the interaction between mind and environment. From the age of three to fourteen, Sato spent his childhood in Tanzania, where he developed a keen sense of observation, understanding that he was not a participant in his surroundings but an observer. This perspective, combined with his exposure to diverse cultures, class, wealth, and languages, forms the backdrop of his interest in perception. A finalist for the Rise Art Prize 2018, Sato's work draws comparisons to Cezanne, Hopper, and Vermeer while maintaining a unique personal style. Influenced by Chuck Close, Euan Uglow, Johannes Vermeer, Edward Hopper, and Andrew Wyeth, Sato's paintings are technically excellent and narratively rich, often set in interior environments to create cohesive and compelling scenes.
