Mark Andrew Bailey creates oil paintings that capture contemporary life through a distinctly impressionistic lens. His work spans urban environments—restaurants, bars, and city streets—and intimate figurative studies, all characterized by painterly brushstrokes and a masterful attention to light. Born in 1982 in Loveland, Colorado, Bailey earned a BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. His artistic trajectory gained momentum in 2010 when Southwest Art magazine featured him in their "21 Under 31 Artists To Collect Now" list. Bailey's career achievements include winning Best in Show at the 2015 Colorado Governor's Art Show and recognition as one of "Ten Artists to Watch" by Southwest Art in 2017. His ongoing "Bad Hombre" series exemplifies his consistent exploration of small-format work. A member of the American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America, Bailey approaches his practice with the intention of creating art that evokes joy through the human element.
