About the Item

Michaelmas daisy is an explosion of color and energy, showcasing a mesmerizing floral composition. Dominating the foreground are bold, purple flowers that draw the eye with their intricate petals. The dynamic background features a blend of turquoise and green shades, evoking a sense of depth and movement. Scattered drops and splatters of paint add texture and spontaneity, capturing a fleeting moment of natural beauty. Rachael masterfully combines deliberate brushstrokes with abstract elements, highlighting her innovative approach to composition and color theory. This piece captures the essence of a vibrant garden in full bloom, offering viewers a sense of joy and wonder. Rachael Dalzell’s paintings are colourful and expressive. Her free and lively use of paint through various techniques, mean that Rachael’s work is as much about mood as it is of place. Many of her paintings are based on the landscapes and changing seasons of her home in Norfolk. They celebrate the joy of light and colour in nature as well as the shape of the landscape. She describes her paintings as a ‘snapshot’ both visually and emotionally of a place. Crazy Daisy

Artist Comments
I watched as this painting revealed itself, color layer by color layer. My process is of reduction; subtracting as canvas gets full of expression until a cohesive composition evolves.

About the Artist
Sheila Grabarsky is an abstract painter living and working on the New Jersey shore. She is known for her bold and expressive gestural brushstrokes, juxtaposition of contrasting colors, and spontaneity in her paintings. Sheila’s animated paintings have been compared to those of Vasily Kandinsky, the Russian painter and art theorist referred to as “the father of abstraction.” And, like Kandinsky, the essence of inner beauty and the potency of the human spirit are key factors in her art. Fun fact: Sheila’s work is featured in a 2016 movie called American Pastoral...
