About the Item
I created this abstract painting inspired by flowers and light colours to capture a sense of calm, renewal, and gentle energy. Rather than focusing on detailed forms, I wanted to express the feeling that flowers and soft hues evoke—something fleeting, delicate, and emotional.

Discover new works by artist, Rajan Seth. London artist Rajan Seth has been creating waves with his atmospheric abstracts. A qualified accountant, Rajan become abundantly aware that his chosen career path lay not in numerical spreadsheets, but in complex canvases; his analytic mind had a creative calling that he simply could not ignore.
His unconventional style of ‘painting without a paintbrush’, using tools such as palette knifes and paint scrapers allow him to build layers, texture and contrast into each of his pieces. Combining this with his passion for incorporating metallic colours into his work and his use of mixed media has enabled him to develop a unique approach which has become notable for its soft yet compelling structure.
My inspiration is drawn from my surrounding environment. Painting is about feeling, and I want people to draw different conclusions when they see my Work”.
Rajan has worked with a number of clients and celebrities including Fearne Cotton (TV), James Anderson (England Cricketer), Luke Evans (Actor), Ashley Walters (Actor) to name a few.
My paintings explore the relationship between elements such as the skies, the oceans, the natural environment such as the formation of rocks, cliffs, and weathered material. In my work, I aim to bring together certain properties of each of these elements to create an experience and understanding of the world and the contrasting relationships between each of these ideas.
The use of texture in my work is formed using material which has been subjected to the forces of the weather, and I love to use ‘untouched’ and ‘natural’ material in my work to form the basis of all my paintings.
The use of ink in my work has been a work in progress that I have been experimenting with over the past year. The use of this new medium has proved to be invaluable to the message and direction that I would like my work to take. On each of the works, I manipulate the Ink using air from my mouth as I want to form a stronger relationship with the canvas and the way that the ink Is manipulated. In this body of works, I have aimed to bring together certain properties of the natural environment and materials. The marks and the movement in the paintings have been made purposefully to evoke emotions of nature and the rhythm of the outside forces.
I have worked with materials to ‘crack’ the surface of the paintings to add elements of physicality and the deterioration of surfaces which is current in the natural environment and particularly on surfaces closer to the coast.

Kipp Stewart (American, b. 1928) is an artist, architect, and designer from Pennsylvania. Known to furniture obsessives for the Declaration series he codesigned for North Carolina’s Drexel Furniture, Stewart is most commonly associated with mid-century design movements of his adopted home state of California. There, in 1972, Stewart designed the Ventana Big Sur, a luxury resort near Montecito for which he oversaw architecture, planning, furniture and interior design across 160 acres of land.
By the time Stewart spearheaded the Ventana, he was already well versed in furniture design. After briefly serving in the U.S. Navy as a teenager, Stewart enrolled at the Chouinard Art Institute (present-day Cal Arts) in Los Angeles. By the time he graduated, he was steeped in the world of modern seating design, experimenting with new chair models that bridged form and function. Charles and Ray Eames were important influences on his early work, which included a chrome-framed lounge chair whose reclined shape bears a striking resemblance to the Eames iconic lounge.
In the late 1950s, Stewart partnered with another West Coast furniture designer, Stewart MacDougall, on a line of modern furniture for Drexel. (The pair were also producing case pieces and more for Glenn of California.) Drexel soon unveiled Stewart and McDougall’s Declaration line, which was constructed entirely of natural walnut and featured the choice of white porcelain or brass drawer pulls and cabinet door handles...
