About the Item
“wishbone” is a 16 x 20 x .25 inch acrylic painting on canvas board by Sandra Cohen. This abstract internal 'landscape', in vibrant and warm colors of burgundy, pink, red, cream, and yellow, blends multiple layers of paint and washes with expressive brushstrokes and destroyed bits of rythmic geometrical textures.
Overhanging tree branches and a fading group of down-pointing triangles peek from the top of a loosely painted background of creamy pinks, yellows and ochres. Towards the middle of the painting, obscured lines of perspective converge behind a central fiery burst of hot pinks and reds extending it's elliptical 'wishbone' shape onto the right side. This ethereal figure appears to float slightly above an echoing shadow amid a rising vapour of blue and brown circular patterns, dotted forms, and destroyed bits of text.
The painting feels emotional and introspective, like an internal landscape or a visual meditation. It balances tension and calm—an interplay between the raw emotion at the center and a dreamy precipice of a serenity in its atmospheric base.

Sandra Cohen’s dreamlike painting and mixed media work explores the paradoxical nature she finds everywhere.
