About the Item
Abstract oil on canvas based on natural elements, landscape and sea. My abstract paintings are all about creating excitement for the viewer through concentrated exploration. Each painting is inspired by nature, travels, or imagination and created to embody immediate impact and lasting power. It is about creating a visual that has never been seen before. I want each painting to engage the viewer through it's own combination of color, motion and dimension. I want the viewer to have a sense of wonderment and curiosity. I want to involve the viewer through searching the variety of textures, dark and light passages and space within the painting. Are the colors connected? Do they hover above the surface, or streak across the surface? My goal in each painting is to urge the viewer to return to the painting and discover new associations with it. I want the viewer and the painting to have a dialog with one another.

"I've always been fascinated by what people see in my paintings," says artist Patrick O'Boyle. He displays an implication of a man traveling the deep void of brilliant hues. Part of his series of colorful abstracts with hints of recognizable subject matter that leaves the viewer room to explore. He combines techniques of collage and painting to unfold a dreamy and entertaining narrative.
About the Artist
Patrick O'Boyle primarily paints in a studio, rarely using reference material other than his own thoughts and dreams. He always paints in a series of five - at the end of the fifth painting he revisits and reworks all of them until he feels they're complete. Using extra-long handles on his brushes, Patrick paints at a distance from the canvas so he can see the works evolve as a whole from the one color he starts with to the vibrant array at the end.
