About the Item

This series of three paintings puts emphasis on the beauty of everyday objects in our lives. Considerate to a restrained palette, strong symmetrical compositions are arranged over multi layers of paint building up soft textures in harmonious neutrals. With the use of paint and pencil, detailed elements blend with intuitive brush work. An outcome both expressive and refined. Each painting is 8"x10" in size. // Having worked in the advertising industry, her background lies in traditional illustration and graphic design. This exposure influenced her subject matter, as home decor and interpretive fashion became a recurring theme in her practice as an artist. // Andrea Stajan-Ferkul is a Canadian artist whose work conveys a sense of experimentation through the use of paint, fabric collage and abstract mark-making. While not exclusive to fashion, dresses have been a compositional focus throughout her oeuvre. With an emphasis on timelessness, her series of dress paintings shift between realistic representation and interpretive impressions. In contrast, her series of abstract works embrace minimalism, considerate to a restrained palette and composition.

Throwing Some Shapes I, II, III Triptych, Original Naïve Still Life Painting
Located in Deddington, GB
A series of paintings exploring the dynamic and expressive shapes of pot plants. I love the way that nature expresses itself; plants often remind me of dancers, but being rooted in solid earth or a heavy pot their 'moves' seem to express an un-self-conscious celebration of life, and a contented acceptance of their earthbound limitations.
